HIPAA-compliant text messaging helps doctors, patients with care and recovery

Text messaging is becoming a popular method of communication between physicians and patients, with many technology vendors offering secure, HIPAA-compliant texting services. Dr. Mel Viney uses a secure text messaging app called OhMD to remotely manage his Suboxone patient population and ensure their care and recovery. The app allows him to have frequent communication with patients regarding their treatment and wellness during the sensitive time of recovery. Viney plans to expand the use of the app to the entire care team and integrate it with the EHR in the future.
