HIMSSCast: Steps hospitals can take to protect medical devices from cyberattcks

Mark Bowling, the chief risk, security, and information security officer at ExtraHop, discusses the vulnerabilities of medical devices and how hospitals can protect themselves. 53% of medical devices have known vulnerabilities that can be easily exploited by cybercriminals. Bowling suggests isolating the devices from the rest of the system, segmenting networks through firewalls, and being aware of the most vulnerable types of devices. The FDA has also introduced new regulations regarding cybersecurity protections for medical devices.
