HHS tells states to do more to protect kids after millions lose Medicaid coverage

The Biden administration has asked nine states to use federal policies to reintegrate as many children as possible back into Medicaid. Figures show that from March to September these states accounted for 60% of the drop in children’s enrollment. The Health and Human Services Department urged the states to take on strategies that would better protect children’s coverage. So far, around three million children have lost coverage since states reassessed eligibility and started expelling people from Medicaid.
