The HHS has released voluntary cybersecurity goals to help healthcare and public health organizations prevent cyberattacks and improve their response to such incidents. The goals were released in view of increasing data breaches and ransomware attacks in healthcare, which affects the safety of patients and exposes sensitive personal information and protected health data. The goals aim to promote layered protection against cyberattacks, and enhance resilience and patient protection. The American Hospital Association has commended these voluntary goals.
