Hero firefighter says 9/11 death toll ‘continuing’ as survivors die from cancer

Retired firefighter Richard Alles, who worked at Ground Zero after 9/11, now helps secure funding for those suffering from related illnesses as Director of 9/11 Community Affairs at Barasch & McGarry. Alles emphasizes that roughly 10,000 people are believed to have long-term health problems from the event, with more than 60 identified cancer types and 24 other conditions linked to exposure at the site. Alles also campaigns for greater government support and information about available compensation programs.
