Help! We’re drowning in email spam, it’s about to get worse and there’s nothing we can do to stop it

Security firm VIPRE handled 7.2 billion emails in 2024 and discovered 858 million instances of spam. About 90% of all emails were classified as spam, which included unsolicited commercial messages and malicious phishing attempts, mostly originating from the US. Experts predict a rise in QR code phishing and adoption of deepfakes by 2025. The study emphasises the importance of multi-layered email security measures including authentication protocols, AI-powered detection tools, and user education.
