The CERT Division of Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute has identified augmented reality and smart medical devices as two of the technologies with the greatest cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the healthcare industry. These technologies pose risks to patient safety as well as data security. The increasing connectivity of healthcare devices combined with poor security measures creates a challenge for hospitals in protecting against cyberattacks. Despite recent regulations, many device developers are hesitant to adopt stricter security measures due to financial difficulties.
