The healthcare sector was the most affected by data breaches in 2024, according to Kroll’s 2025 Data Breach Outlook. It accounted for 23% of all breaches, up from 22% in the finance sector. Despite a high incidence of breaches, the healthcare sector led in the uptake of identity protection services. The report also highlights significant reductions in data breaches in the technology, education and retail sectors.
