Healthcare sector challenges are driving $70M in new budget requests, says FTC

The Federal Trade Commission is proposing a $160 million increase in its budget for 2024 to boost staffing levels and cover operational costs. Although the commission did not challenge Amazon’s $3.9 billion merger with One Medical, it did not rule the deal lawful either. The FTC’s resources have been strained by healthcare mergers, leading to the need for increased funding. The Biden Administration may challenge Amazon’s mergers in the next term.
