Healthcare organizations in the US lose $1.9 million daily during downtime after a ransomware attack, according to Comparitech. The software firm noted these attacks force healthcare providers to take their systems offline, hampering their ability to provide care. The report mentioned 654 individual ransomware attacks on medical organizations since 2018, including 143 in 2020 alone. Comparitech’s head of data research, Rebecca Moody, predicted an increase in such attacks, saying they remain a growing threat to the healthcare sector.
