Since 2020, 2,213 healthcare data breaches have affected 152.1 million people, nearly half the US population, according to Incogni. The researchers found that approximately a third had their Social Security number exposed, and a quarter had their treatment information compromised. Healthcare providers experienced the most breaches. Despite ransomware attacks accounting for less than a third of all healthcare breaches, they constituted four out of the 10 biggest attacks in terms of impacted patient profiles.
