Healthcare in the Crosshairs of North Korean Cyber Operations

The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the FBI, and the Department of Health and Human Services, along with South Korean intelligence agencies, have warned of increased state-sponsored North Korean cyber-attacks on the US healthcare sector. Intended to fund espionage activities through ransomware attacks, the revenues are often in the form of cryptocurrency. The advisory also stressed the risk of paying ransoms, as it does not guarantee data recovery and may breach sanctions.
