A surge in cases saw healthcare bankruptcy reach a five-year high in 2023, a report reveals. Including Chapter 11 cases for businesses with liabilities of $10m and above, restructuring firm Gibbins Advisors documented 79 cases last year, more than triple that of 2021. Challenges for providers may continue in 2024, the firm warned. Notable bankruptcies in 2023 included staffing company Envision Healthcare and physicians group, American Physician Partners.
