Pradeep Jain lost Rs 2.01 lakh from his bank account after hackers gained access to his phone through a scam using Least Significant Bit (LSB) steganography. The technique involves hiding data within media files, such as images, that evade traditional detection systems. Files like .jpg, .png, .mp3, .mp4, and PDFs are commonly used, as they seem trustworthy. Forensic tools, steganalysis platforms, and behavioural analytics are required for detection. Protect yourself by not opening files from unknown numbers, updating your phone regularly, disabling auto-download, and not sharing OTPs.
