The latest surge in ransomware, known as Mamba or HDDCryptor, is causing concern due to its ability to encrypt entire hard drives. Unlike other ransomware, which typically only target specific files or folders, Mamba targets network resources and locks down the entire drive. The ransomware is distributed through phishing email campaigns and has been active since August 2016. It is currently only targeting Windows users.
