HC3 warns about AI’s cybersecurity impacts

The U.S. Health and Human Services has published a briefing on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity within the healthcare industry. The briefing highlights the risks posed by OpenAI’s generative pretrained transformer model, ChatGPT, and similar large language models (LLMs). The agency warns of potential threats such as phishing attacks, automated attacks, complex malware, and more evasive ransomware. They recommend measures including penetration testing, continuous monitoring, and AI training for cybersecurity personnel to mitigate these risks. AI and LLM models can also be used to enhance cybersecurity measures.
