Hackers breached the databases of The Center for Vein Restoration, accessing the personal data and medical records of around 500,000 patients. The hack, recorded in October, revealed addresses, Social Security numbers, medical records, lab results, and financial information. Healthcare breaches are particularly serious as the medical records can be used in identity theft and phishing scams. Measures to prevent falling victim to these attacks include regularly monitoring accounts, using strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and antivirus software.
