Hacker group GoldenJackal has seemingly developed a method to bypass the security of “air-gapped” computers — machines purposefully isolated from the internet for security. The group reportedly uses malware-loaded USB drives to infiltrate the isolated systems. The process was discovered by cybersecurity firm ESET during an investigation into a hacking campaign targeting an EU government organisation. It is unclear if GoldenJackal is affiliated with a government, and the group seems primarily focused on spying on governmental entities in Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia.
