Hackers behind cyber attack ordered by judge to return stolen NHS patient data

UK pathology services provider Synnovis suffered a ransomware attack by Russian cyber gang Qilin, which compromised over 100,000 patients’ data, including blood test results and confidential information. The attack has led to criticism of the NHS’s outdated IT systems. An interim injunction has been granted to Synnovis to prevent release of further stolen data by the hackers. The Qilin gang admitted responsibility for the attack, which reportedly led to the cancellation of numerous NHS appointments.
