Threat actor Smishing Triad, believed to be Chinese-speaking, is expanding beyond the EU, US, Saudi Arabia and UAE to target Pakistan. Using stolen databases from the dark web, the group sends malicious iMessages and SMS on behalf of Pakistan Post to steal users’ personal and financial data. Google has also revealed a threat actor, PINEAPPLE, using spam lures related to taxes and finance to spread the Astaroth information-stealing malware in Brazil.
