Google Chrome Switches to ML-KEM for Post-Quantum Cryptography Defense

Google is switching from KYBER to ML-KEM in Chrome to counter threats from quantum computers. The switch, which applies to both the PostQuantumKeyAgreementEnabled flag and enterprise policy, will take effect in Chrome version 131, set for release in November 2024. Google’s move comes after the US NIST published final versions of three encryption algorithms and in response to the discovery of a cryptographic flaw affecting Infineon security microcontrollers.
