Global Zoom Outage Caused by Server Block Imposed from GoDaddy Registry

On April 16, 2025, Zoom experienced a two-hour outage affecting millions globally due to a server block imposed by GoDaddy Registry after a miscommunication with Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor. While users in meetings weren’t impacted, new connections failed. Zoom restored services after collaboration with both entities and implemented measures for improved domain management communication. A public apology was issued.
