A global operation backed by Microsoft and coordinated by the U.S. Justice Department has disrupted the Lumma malware service. Lumma, released in late 2022, targeted data like browser info and cryptocurrency wallets and had been adopted by cybercriminals due to its cheapness and ease of use. However, experts warn that those backing Lumma may re-emerge as cybercrime often behaves like a game of ‘whack-a-mole’.
