Glasgow considers legal action against Home Office over refugee crisis

Glasgow City Council is considering taking legal action against the UK Home Office, warning it is under “unprecedented pressure” due to decisions on refugee status. With 2500 decisions set to be made by year-end, the burden on homelessness services, already stretched thin, is expected to increase. The council believes clearing the backlog could leave a £70.1m deficit in next year’s homelessness services budget. The council is also considering seeking advice from senior counsels.
