GHC reports possible cyber attack affecting services

Nearly 500,000 children visit emergency rooms annually for mental health issues, with increasing needs among 6-17 year-olds, says the American Academy of Pediatrics. Despite 42% of high school students reporting feelings of sadness or hopelessness in 2021, half of troubled youth aren’t receiving professional mental health services. Insurance limitations and poor mental health coverage complicate the situation, even after parity laws requiring insurers to cover mental and physical health similarly. Some schools attempt to provide mental health services, but these efforts fall short of the growing need.
