Due to increased demand for behavioral health services amidst the pandemic, Geisinger expanded its use of telemedicine. Despite improved access, challenges associated with pre-visit readiness occurred. To address this, Geisinger integrated telemedicine services into the patient portal, MyChart, ensuring patients completed necessary procedures prior to online visits. As a result, compliance improved significantly, with more than 50,000 patients utilizing telemedicine through MyChart in the first five months of the initiative, saving an estimated $560,000.
