The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged 16 individuals alleged to have links to a Russian malware operation called DanaBot. The malware has infected at least 300,000 machines globally and was involved in a wide range of hacking operations, including ransomware, cyber-attacks, and espionage. Authorities seized DanaBot infrastructure globally, including in the US. The DOJ has accused two of the suspects and identified another nine by their pseudonyms. Since 2018, DanaBot has affected millions of computers worldwide. The investigation was carried out by the DOJ’s Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS).
