Feds announce final penalties for information blocking. Hospitals and medical groups aren’t happy.

The US federal government has finalized rules against information blocking in the healthcare sector, with violators facing significant financial penalties. Hospitals, doctors and insurers found to be blocking information could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal aid. The regulations also penalize clinicians and medical groups. The measures, aimed at promoting better patient care through information sharing, are set to be implemented 30 days after the final rule is published.
