FDA testing aged raw cow's milk cheese for bird flu

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will sample raw cow’s milk cheese to test for bird flu following outbreaks in multiple states. The FDA aims to detect the H5N1 virus, and will collect 300 samples from warehoused products, not from stores. The samples will help protect consumers from the virus and other potential pathogens, such as E. coli and salmonella. The testing period will continue until March but could last longer.
