FDA approves sleep apnea tech from EnsoData, Samsung

Technology firms are leveraging AI, machine learning and wearables to improve the diagnosis and management of sleep apnea, a common but often undiagnosed condition affecting millions of people globally. The FDA has cleared an AI algorithm from EnsoData to help diagnose sleep disorders using any FDA-cleared pulse oximeter, while Samsung received De Novo approval for a Galaxy Watch oxygen sensor. Additionally, the National Institutes of Health has granted $4.1m to Mount Sinai to develop an AI model to generate a risk profile for sleep apnea patients.
