The US Justice Department has announced the disruption of the BlackCat ransomware operation, which has been one of the most prolific ransomware-as-a-service variants in the world. With the help of a confidential source, the FBI gained access to the gang’s web panel and released a decryption tool that allows victims to regain access to their files. The operation saved victims from ransom demands totalling $68 million.
