The FBI has issued a warning over new HiatusRAT malware attacks scanning for, and affecting, unsecured web cameras and DVRs online. The attackers mainly target Chinese-branded devices awaiting security patches. IoT devices in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK were targeted in March 2024. Primarily targeted are Hikvision and Xiongmai devices. The malware is used to deploy additional payloads on infected systems, converting them into proxies for servers.
