The alert states that IoT devices, including HVAC remotes, Wi-Fi cameras, and insulin dispensers, are notorious for having security deficiencies, making them attractive targets for cybercriminals. The FBI has provided recommendations to mitigate these risks, including keeping devices updated with security patches and disabling Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) on routers. IoT is projected to have a significant economic impact on healthcare, ranging from $170 billion to $1.6 trillion by 2025.
