FBI Hacks Over 4,000 US Computers to Remove Chinese Malware ‘PlugX’ Used for Espionage

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) authorised the FBI to hack thousands of US computers to prevent a dangerous Chinese malware, thought to be from state-backed sources, from taking control. The hackers, known as ‘Twill Typhoon’ or ‘Mustang Panda’, have long targeted victims globally. The FBI deleted the malware “PlugX” from over 4,000 Windows-based computers.
