FBI confirms .6 billion losses to cyber-crime in 2024

According to the FBI’s 2024 Internet Crime Report, the US has faced nearly $16.6 billion losses from cybercrimes, with fraud being the dominant type. The report identifies a 9% increase in cybercrime incidents compared to 2023 and highlights the elderly population’s particular vulnerability due to their limited digital literacy. Ransomware-like Akira, LockBit, RansomHub, FOG, and Play emerges as the top threat.
