Google’s threat intelligence firm, Mandiant, has discovered fraudulent websites spreading malware through fake AI video ads, mostly on Facebook and LinkedIn. The year-long campaign, led by Vietnam-linked group UNC6032, masqueraded as legitimate AI tools and reached around 2.3 million users in the EU. Upon clicking the ads, victims would be redirected to fraudulent sites offering video generation, which instead infected their devices with infostealing and backdoor malware.
