Researchers at HYAS Labs analysed reports by CitizenLab and Sekoia of predatory mercenary spyware, “Predator”, developed by Cytrox, and used their threat intelligence solution, HYAS Insight, to identify potential leads on the source of the threat. This sophisticated spyware, typically reserved for government use, was found targeting a former Egyptian MP with presidential ambitions. Protective measures against this type of spyware include device security updates and non-signature-based endpoint tools, while potential targets are advised to reboot their phones daily.
