The European Commission has introduced a mechanism that allows fraudulent or erroneous EU Digital COVID Certificates (EUDCCs) to be revoked. Once a certificate is revoked in one member state, it will also be invalidated in all other member states. The move aims to combat fraud and ensure the integrity of the EUDCC system, which has issued over 1.7 billion certificates since July 2021. The overall number of fraudulently or mistakenly issued certificates is said to be very low.
