EU unveils plan to protect hospitals from rising cyberattacks, ET HealthWorld

The European Union (EU) has announced new measures to counter rising cyber threats to the healthcare sector. These include setting up a pan-European cybersecurity support centre and urging member states to develop national plans for bolstering cybersecurity. The move follows a record 309 significant cybersecurity incidents in the EU’s healthcare sector in 2023. The measures aim to ensure patient data safety and continuity of care in the face of threats such as ransomware attacks.
