Encryption experts say providers should look to PETs for safer analytics

Healthcare increasingly requires privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) like fully homomorphic encryption, trusted execution environments and privacy-preserving federated learning to protect patient data during analysis. Experts from Duality, a firm creating such technologies, stated these tools are underused and could also be beneficial for evolving regulatory guidance. The experts encouraged regulations to prescribe these tools to enforce privacy laws better and incentivise their mass adoption.
