Elastic Security Labs has discovered a new Rust-based malware, EDDIESTEALER, spread via fake CAPTCHA pages used to mislead users and plant credential-stealing malware. Using compromised websites, the malware is stealthy and difficult to analyze. EDDIESTEALER uses unique encryption codes and checks for a specific amount of system memory, deleting itself if the threshold isn’t met. It can acquire credentials, browser data, cryptocurrency wallet information, and messaging apps details.
