DOJ Arrests Founders of Crypto Mixer Samourai for $2 Billion in Illegal Transactions

Cryptocurrency mixer company Samourai’s co-founders, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, have been arrested and charged with money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that Samourai facilitated over $2 billion in illegal transactions and laundered over $100 million. The firm was known for tools designed to hide users’ cryptocurrency transaction trails. Both founders face up to 25 years in prison each.
