The US Department of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office and Humane Intelligence have concluded a pilot program testing large language model (LLM) chatbots used in military medical services. The crowd-sourced program identified over 800 potential vulnerabilities and biases, which could help improve the military’s use of AI in healthcare through better risk management practices. Continued testing is seen as critical for accelerating AI capabilities across the department.
