DNSFilter Report Finds New Domains Surpassed Malware as Top Threat Type in Q1

A recent report by DNSFilter reveals a surge in new, potentially harmful domains surpassing phishing and malware as the top threat category. The first quarter of 2025 saw an increase of 140% compared to the previous quarter, with 19% potentially harmful. DNSFilter, processing about 170 billion DNS queries daily, blocked 3.61% of total DNS traffic, the highest-ever quarterly rate. The finding suggests a need for real-time detection of suspect domains to mitigate risks.
