DNA Origami Selectively Triggers Cytotoxicity to Make Cancer Fold

Scientists at the Karolinska Institute have developed a nanorobot that kills cancer cells, using peptides hidden inside a DNA nanostructure to only attack cells in a low pH environment. The nanorobot could be triggered to selectively turn on in tumour microenvironments and kill cells. In experiments with human breast cancer mouse models, the technology resulted in a 70% reduction in tumour growth compared with control mice.
