Despite this, the proposal does not cover all digital therapeutics and only includes three codes for FDA-cleared “digital mental health treatment devices.” However, digital therapeutics companies are still embracing the proposal as a win, as coverage by Medicare often leads to coverage by commercial insurance. The proposal is open to comment until September 9, with a final rule expected by the end of the year.
