Cyber claims, driven by data and privacy breaches, surged in the past year, says Allianz Commercial’s annual cyber risk report. Large cyber claims grew by 14% and their severity increased by 17% in a single year. The rise in ransomware attacks and a changing legal environment have also contributed to more class action lawsuits arising from data privacy breaches. In the future, the use of AI may both further increase privacy and security risks while simultaneously providing tools for mitigation.
