Data chief raises fears over future about NHSE cyber security team

Denis Lafitte, Chief Digital Information Officer at Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, has urged the government not to disband the NHS England cyber security team amidst its significant reorganisation. This followed a ransomware attack on their pathology provider Synnovis which prompted the postponement of over 11,000 patient procedures. After the attack, the Trust had to rebuild its systems from scratch and is prioritising increasing awareness of cyber security throughout its operations.
