Data centres to be given massive boost and protections from cyber criminals and IT blackouts

Data centres in the UK have been recognised as critical national infrastructure (CNI), giving them the same status as water and energy systems, and allowing the government to support the sector during crises. This move recognises the role of these centres in storing data, including NHS records, enabling the government to intervene in the event of a cyber attack or outage. These changes will deter cyber criminals, boost business confidence, and promote investment.
