The average cost of a data breach in India hit a record high of Rs 19.5 crore in 2024, a 39% increase since 2020, according to an IBM report. The growing expense reflects greater disruptions from such breaches and mounting demands on cybersecurity teams. The peak costs were linked to compromised business email and data stored on public cloud infrastructure. To curb these rising costs, more Indian companies are extensively deploying security AI and automation technologies.
